Dr Yu was one of the youngest undergraduates when he started learning Chinese herbal
medicine and acupuncture at the age of 15. He was trained for 14 years in two of the most
prestigious universities in China: Bachelor and Master Degree attained in 1993 and 2001
respectively at Shandong University of TCM; a PhD at Nanjing University of TCM in 2004.
Also, he had been a Head Physician and rheumatologist at Hiser Hospital in China until
he came to practise in Manchester UK in 2004.
As a qualified, professional practitioner, he has a wealth of experience in treating various
health problems. In particular, he has expertise in rheumatological, immunological,
gynaecological and digestive diseases. His practice combines TCM with modern
approaches. Chinese herbal medicine can be prescribed either separately or in conjunction
with acupuncture treatment.
Dr Yu is a fellow of the Rheumatology Association of CATCM and a member of the Chinese
Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion. Also, he is a fully insured practitioner member of the
ATCM, the largest professional regulatory body for TCM in the UK. He is recognised as an
acupuncture and TCM practitioner by The NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative
Practitioners which provides a service to Local GPs and allows them to refer their patients to
